I. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIES. Pursuant to EU Regulation 679/2016, and pursuant to the provisions of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali) with Order No. 231 of 10 June 2021 regarding “Guidelines for Cookies and other Tracking Tools”, the Data Controller hereby provides this Cookie Policy. The Cookie Policy aims to provide users with all the information required by Articles 13–14 of the GDPR, as well as to specifically and analytically describe the characteristics and purposes of the cookies installed on the website, allowing users to select/deselect individual cookies. Processing using cookies is done using automated tools, and the data retention period depends on the nature of the cookie used.
What are cookies? Cookies are small strings of code that websites you visit send to your terminal (usually to your browser: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.), where they are stored and then retransmitted each time you re-access the same website.
Why are cookies useful? Through the use of cookies, websites you visit recognize your device and are able to improve your browsing experience. Cookies serve various purposes, including allowing you to navigate website pages efficiently, remembering your favourite sites, memorizing your language preferences, and so on. Cookies also help ensure that online advertising content is more targeted to your specific interests.
Cookie classification. Cookies are classified based on:
– their duration: cookies can be session cookies, meaning they’re automatically deleted when your close your browser, or persistent cookies, meaning they remain active until their expiry date or until you delete them;
– their origin: cookies can be first-party – meaning they’re sent to your browser directly from the website you are visiting – or third-party, meaning they’re sent to your browser from other sites and not from the site you’re visiting.
– the purpose: cookies may be of technical or profiling nature. This classification is explained in greater detail below.
Technical cookies These cookies allow us to improve your browsing experience. Indeed, without the use of technical cookies, some operations would be very complex or impossible to perform. These cookies – which may be first-party or third-party, session or persistent – do not require your prior consent before being installed. Technical cookies are “strictly necessary” when they allow you to navigate the website effectively and take advantage of its essential features, such as enabling computer authentication or memorizing previous actions. Blocking the use of these cookies may compromise your browsing experience. Conversely, technical cookies are described as “functional” when they improve the browsing experience by storing your user preferences, such as language, name, and location. Blocking these cookies won’t compromise your browsing experience, but you won’t be able to take advantage of useful services. Technical cookies are “analytical” when they allow us to collect information on how you interact with the website, by analysing the number of pages visited, the time spent on the website, the most visited pages, and any other issues that emerge during navigation, such as any errors on pages visited. These cookies allow us to obtain statistical data relating to navigation and improve the services we offer you. Analytical cookies are technical in nature – not profiling – only when the site owner has adopted suitable tools to reduce the identifying power of the analytical cookies used, by masking significant portions of the IP address. The installation of technical cookies does not require your prior consent. Therefore, if a website only uses technical cookies, the data controller is not required to obtain consent through the cookie banner. This extended information (the information you are reading now) is mandatory.
Profiling cookies These are activated only after you have given your consent. You give consent by clicking “OK” or “Continue” or “Accept all cookies” (etc.) on the banner on the homepage or on another page of the same site. Profiling cookies are used to improve the services offered by the Data Controller and to select and send advertising based on the preferences and tastes you express while browsing. The use of profiling cookies to send targeted advertising does not imply multiple advertisements will be displayed, nor will it hinder your browsing experience. Disabling profiling cookies means you’ll only see generic advertising rather than advertisements aligned with your interests. For example, profiling cookies include third-party statistical and analytical cookies without IP masking, or advertising, publicity, tracking, or conversion cookies.
II. HOW TO SELECT AND/OR DISABLE COOKIES.
